Little Taste of Small Town Life

We start our Saturdays early for Sydney's soccer games.
Kelli can't let her big sister get all the attention though, and usually steals the spotlight one way or another. It was a beautiful morning with our beautiful girls!

After the game, we headed into town for breakfast tacos at Helen's. (an authentic Mexican hole in the wall joint, run by the original owner Helen, whom everyone calls Grandma now). She makes the tortillas by hand every morning, Andy is in love.

It's literally a stone's throw from the railroad tracks and Sydney always has to check out any train whistling through town. While we were eating about 2 came through, including an Amtrak, which I thought was so cute when all the shop owners hurried out of their businesses and all the patrons came out to wave at the train and its passengers. It was like "We are Buda & we are honored for your visit, even if it's for 13.4 seconds, have a nice day and come back soon".

Told you it was a hole in the wall!!

Andy talking to "Grandma" Helen. He was flirting with her. The place had a picture of her in the paper from like 1973, framed and on the wall. She was young and all dolled up and Andy said "I only have one question for you. Who's that pretty fox in that picture you have hanging up there?" And Grandma Helen was so flustered and blushing she could hardly talk.
He's definitely getting extra tortillas next time.

Kelli didn't like the beans.

Sydney liked everything.
See that cup in the left, bottom corner of the picture? The one that is the size of Sydney's head?
That was Andy's orange juice.

We took Sydney to a birthday party on Sunday and Kelli helped herself to the party favors.
It was at this inflatable jumpy wharehouse, so we didn't see much of Sydney except when it was time to sing Happy Birthday and then open presents.

When I came home from studying today (Monday) I walked into a house full of paintings taped all over my walls. As it turns out, Sydney had her friend Julia over for a "royal ball" and these were the decorations. They wore their gowns and had a royal feast too! (thanks for playing along Mom!!)

We got our pyramid food guide (thanks for that idea Carey!) and Sydney thinks its her menu (I'm not going to argue). Since she knew she needed 3-5 more servings of vegetable today she ended up having celery, carrots and broccoli with her turkey sandwhich at dinner and ate every bite. Ha! Love it. This is for keeps!

Wrapping up her day, Kelli makes the biggest mess possible when she starts getting tired. She just gets real quiet, keeps to herself and spreads everything out. It's really cute. (but a lot to pick up!) She has reverted back to just crawling, which I don't mind. So I doubt she'll be a full-blown walker before she's 1... but who knows. She was doing really well with it (standing, walking with assistance), she doesn't seem interested anymore. All she wants to do is climb stairs. Lord help me. We need super duper heavy duty gates now bc the ones we have are sucky for the staircase we have. That reminds me... gotta go check out Amazon! (my boyfriend!)
